The LHAE DSA represents all graduate students in the Department of Leadership, Higher & Adult Education.

Meet the 2024-2025 DSA Executive


 

Mandy Nelson, President

 

Mandy is a Master of Education Student in Higher Education, Student Development and Student Services at OISE. Her research interests surround post-secondary students on academic probation and suspension, including how institutions can holistically support these students for their success. As a part-time student and a Front-Line Advisor at University College, Mandy is passionate about assisting students with navigating their degree and career pathways. As a neurodivergent student, she is an advocate for accessibility and aims to create a supportive environment for the students she works with.

Michael Coleman, Vice President Academic Affair

 

Michael is a PhD student in Higher Education, having also previously completed both his MEd and BSc at the University of Toronto. During his studies, he worked in Residence Life and for First-Year Learning Communities, sparking his interest in the field. He is passionate about post-secondary student - namely student-athlete - experiences, and the logistics and governance of collegiate athletics around the world.

Iman Sherazi, Vice President Communications  

 

Iman is a Master of Education student in Education Leadership and Policy at OISE, with a background in marketing and communications. Her research explores immigrant and newcomer experiences in Ontario school athletics. In her free time, she enjoys painting and fitness. She is looking forward to connecting OISE’s community this upcoming year!

Tom Young, Vice President Finance

 

Tom is a PhD student in Higher Education at the University of Toronto. His research explores how educational policies in Ontario are reshaping undergraduate programming, with a particular focus on work-integrated learning (WIL). He is especially interested in examining the extent to which participation in WIL influences the labour market outcomes of Ontario undergraduate students during economic downturns, as well as identifying other contributing factors that shape these outcomes.

Seo Young Lee, Vice President Internal

 

Seo Young is a full-time PhD student in the Adult Education and Community Development program. Her research delves into the experiences of Korean faculty members in Canadian universities, considering their intersecting identities as newcomers and professionals. She hopes for a collaborative and fun learning experience within the OISE community as a DSA team member. She enjoys cafe hopping and walking around the city during her free time.
